Remembering Japanese cars from the past

Webmining: Dutch brochure of the Toyota Corona RT46 panel van

This Dutch brochure scan of a Toyota Corona RT46 panel van (delivery van) shows me another prime example of reverse fetish. I collect Japanese brochures and I love to browse them every now and then. Then go through every tiny little detail and compare the trim levels with each other. Apparently the blog owner here also has the same fetish and collects brochures from overseas! Brilliant!

Practical Classics: British cars versus Japanese cars

I’m a subscriber to the Practical Classics Magazine and I just noticed their March 2014 cover:
Practical Classics Magazine March 2014
British versus Japan?
Kujira Crown coupe versus Ford Capri?
Triumph 1300 versus Corona?
Allegro versus Compagno?
Marina versus Bluebird?
Cavalier versus Accord?
I think only the Kujira Crown is going to lose in this battle! 😉
Oh boy, I can’t wait till it drops on my doorstep!

Carina sightings: two Carinas and a Corona drifting

More than two years ago I posted my wallpaper @ work:

Twin drifting aa63 carina 4dr, aa63 carina 2dr and T142 Corona 2dr coupe

Yes, two Carinas and a Corona doing a tandem drift!

Well, today you can see this exact picture in motion in this video:

The white Carina sedan is an AA63, the black Carina coupe is also an AA63 and the Corona is an AT142. That lovely sound is from the squealing the tires and those three 4AGEs screaming down that corner! I love it! 🙂

BTW: Currently I have a different wallpaper (to be precise: an orange Luxembourgh Levin), but I think this is a good reason to switch back to this one! 😉

Second Japanese national A60 & T140 meeting

I already posted some pics about this event some time ago, but on the 1st of June 2008 the second national A60 & T140 meeting was held at Mount Fuji. I just found a webpage with a large gallery of this great event! 🙂

To give another impression of the meeting:

Great to see so many Toyota Carina/Celica A60s and Corona T140s. Somehow I get the impression that white was a very popular color in the early 80s. 😉

Of course my favorite Carina SA60 Firevan was present:

And this yellow TA63 Carina sedan is also one of my favorites:
