Irian Jaya: Toyota Mark II

It may sound weird but this is the only X60/X70/X80/X90 I was able to photograph... I spotted many many on the roads around Jayapura but every time either the van or the car was driving too quick to photograph.

On our way from Jayapura to lake Sentani we drove behind a white Toyota Mark II and at some junction it finally took the other bend and I was finally able to make a proper photo of it.

Don't get tricked by the exhaust: that's the exhaust of a moped driving behind the Mark II. ;)

Random: Mark II with the same chin spoiler!

Random picture of a Mark II Grande GX71 I found on Minkara with the same chin spoiler as the Carina GT-TR I posted last week:

I definitely want one! (Both the Mark II and the chin spoiler! ;) )

Family Album Treasures: GX61 stands for Victory!

We all know the Japanese are very fond of doing the V-sign, but this guy really overdoes it!

Not that his GX61 is ugly, but I would certainly not call it a WIN!

Random: beautifully rebuilt Toyota Mark II RX12

While JNC blog is still offline I started to search for the answer why the blog is offline on their forum. While doing so I stumbled upon RSilva's beautifully restored Mark II:

The photography is astonishing: the retro look really fits both the model and the car! The photographer is probably either him or a family member since they share partly the same name. You can find more pictures of this beautiful Mark II either in the topic on JNC forum or on Filipe da Silva's portfolio .

Japanese rustoseums (part five)

Time for some more rust(oseums)!

Let's start with this Toyota Mark II Grande GX81:
Beaten up Toyota Mark II Grande GX81

It might have been stolen and dumped in the middle of nowhere after they beaten up this Mark II enough... Bit of a shame though: it is the Mark II Grande model, so it is the top of the line model...

What about this Cedric Y31?

It looks like this hardtop model is still in perfectly good health! Just parked somewhere in the foliage and left there for ages... Or could it be that it was parked in an open space and the foliage just grew around it? :P

Now even if this 1970 or 1971 Nissan 521 is quite rusty, it may still be in use! Tires aren't flat yet and judging from headrest on the driver seat it must have been replaced some time ago. It is clear that the model is the 521 since the grille has the four horizontal bars. This did not feature on the 520 models, but only on the 521 model.

All three pictures were taken from the usual place:
