JAF2011: Finally some celluloid photos!

No votes yet

It has taken about a month for me to finally post up some of the celluloid photographs I took with my Zenit-E and a "new" Industar 61 lens at the Japans Autosport Festival 2011 at Zandvoort. As we Dutch say: "It takes a while but then you have something!" but that probably hits like a plier to a pig! :P

First reason it took so long was that the pictures got lost between the processing company and the photostore. Second reason was that I was too lazy to scan them. Third reason was that I was too lazy to upload them. So here they finally are!

I'll start with my Carina parked next to this Datsun 240Z:
Datsun S30 240Z @ JAF2011
Datsun S30 240Z @ JAF2011

I made the decision that the Carina would be a better off parked next to a classic 70s JDM sportscar than one of those "modern" cars in the background. ;)

When chatting with the owner of the Corolla AE86 with 3S-GE swap this yellow 240Z stopped by. The owner turned out to be an AE86 owner as well. What is the chance that I parked my Carina next to his 240Z? One out of 10000?

Next up is this first generation green Mazda 626 hardtop coupe:

I found another one for Beeoneoneoh:
Suzuki Alto SS40
Suzuki Alto SS40

This one was even more fresh than the previous Alto! I could not find any rust on this car, it had a better interior (non damaged dash!), better hubcaps and even one year older!

Suzuki Alto SS40

Apparently the new owner is also very fresh: the last ownership change was only 12 days ago! So when I spotted the car it was only in its owners possesion for 7 days!

This one is especially for Beeoneoneoh!

Normally I just take pictures of every "old" J-tin I come by and it just sits there in a directory on my harddrive. Normally it will never come out again, but every since I read his posting about his SS40 fetish I really had to post this one. ;)

This particular SS40 looked like it belongs to an old lady: it had everything from pictures of (grand)children on its dash till the sheepcloth cover for the steering wheel! And it only travelled 60000 kilometers!

According to the vehicle registration site it was sold to a new owner two years ago, so sale from granny to granny?

The car is practically rust free, except for this hole:

Probably once had a scratch and then deteriorated during its 24 years lifetime.

Another flaw was the front bumper:

Some mild damage deformed it but actually it is like nothing compared to most 24 year old cars!

So, there is only one way to save it properly: slam it to the ground with a set of SSR Mk II rims and add some fender mirrors and a big noisy exhaust to make it complete!
