Skyline GC10

Commerical time: Long drive Skyline GC10

I think I posted a few of these commercials sometime before, but most of the videos have been removed from Youtube in the meantime. Hopefully these won't disappear since they are not ripped from the DVD.

Even before the famous Ken and Mary C110 commercials Nissan was marketing the Skyline to be the car for the young and sporty couples, including the G18 Skyline GC10 deluxe around 9:08. Funny how his beret changes into a hat within a few seconds...

Don't be fooled by the first commercial: that's a model from the previous S50 generation Skyline.

Mental note: If I ever buy a Skyline C10 I'll definitely have to buy a beret as well!

Random: the Skyline GC10 Cowboy

I never knew the Skyline GC10 was targeted at cowboys:

Skyline Cowboy

I must say that the cowboy has taste: the black hood (plus two white stripes) on a yellow skyline looks like an excellent combination. I wonder why everybody chooses that ubiquitous dull silver-grey color...

Fourty two years ago there was a businessman returning home from his work in his new shiney Nissan Skyline GC10. Judging from the short nose it is almost certainly powered by the G-15:

It is also funny to see the comparison with the Japanese Grand Prix winning Nissan R381 #20. That would certainly be a good reason to wear those leather gloves during daily commute. ;)

Family Album Treasures: Squat in front of a GC10

The quality of this picture is too low to determine the exact type of the Skyline GC10, but at least we can make out that it is the later type...

In the background more late 60s/early 70s J-tin and judging from the clothes the picture is definitely taken somewhere in the early 70s...

Japanese rustoseums (part eleven)

When I posted part 9 (with the Celica XX, MR2 and Silvia S13) on Facebook I replied to Matti Alasaari that there were even sadder pictures than that. As promised they are going to be posted here: three Nissan Skyline GC10s!

First of all this sad KGC10 coupe is rusting away:
Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-X KGC10
Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-X KGC10

This KGC10 is the coupe version of the Skyline 2000 GT-X, but it does have the tail lights of the KPGC10 GT-R. You can distinguish it from the KPGC10 by looking at the rear arches: they haven't been cut nor flared. Of course it is a famous upgrade to flare the rear arches and sell it to some foreigner as a GT-R, so there is still potential in this car! ;)

Now it is unclear what trim this GC10 used to be:
