Family Album Treasures: Jokers Yonmeri Skyline GC110

This particular Yonmeri Skyline was actually owned by one of the members of the Aoyama Jokers (one of the most notorious Bosozoku gangs in the 70s and 80s) and modified in what we call Kyusha Kai nowadays.

The car features a set of 9J wide Volk Mesh rims.
Of course this picture was taken near the beach/shore and the owner stands casually next to his pride and joy. Definitely worth adding such a photo to your family album!

Carina Sightings: Kyusha Kai Carina GT-TR

I found this kyusha kai styled Carina GT-TR on a spring meeting of a few other Carinas on Carview. I think this is definitely the coolest Carina I saw so far:

Lowered, black fender extenders, gunmetal grey RS Watanabe rims, rollcage, bride seat, etc. etc...

Now that Carina alone would have been a great post by itself, but then I spotted this picture of a Carina A60 sticker:
I want this Carina sticker!

The coolest thing ever!! Now let's see if I can lay my hands upon one! :)

How cool can a Toyota Chaser JZX71 be?

Noriyaro posted some amazing pictures again! This time of a typically 80s boxy Toyota Chaser JZX71:

I do not agree with him that the car is bosozoku, it is more kyusha kai than bosozoku: it is lowered and it got stretched tires around deep dished rims. No further bosozoku styling (like ridiculous body modifications) or what so ever.

If you're interested in all pictures of the Chaser, you can find them in this posting on the Noriyaru site:

How to fit stretched tires? Part2

A while ago I posted about how to fit stretched tires on those lovely 9 inch wide rims like this one on the Carina Firevan:
Stretched tires on E-SA60 Carina Firevan, about as far as you can stretch them!

Well, I found a video how to do it without explosions:

Pretty nifty!:)

Still, I think the fun factor of the explosion method a lot more appealing. ;)

How to fit stretched tires?

Ever wondered how they fit stretched tires on those fat 9, 10, 11 or 12 inch rims? Ever wondered how those wheels on the B?s?zoku, Kyusha Kai and Shakotan cars are done? I did after seeing this picture of the Carina Firevan:
Stretched tires on E-SA60 Carina Firevan, about as far as you can stretch them!

See for yourself here:

What happens is that the tire is only fitted on one side of the rim and the other side has a small (ahum) amount of space between the tire and the rim. The guy in the video applies brake cleaner on the rim (to ignite), just above and inside the tire. Then he lights it and the brake cleaner ignites and explodes inside the tire. This causes the air to expand and the tire to stretch. Due to the tire expanding it will tightly fit on the other side of the rim and you have a stretched tire. It is as simple as that! :)

Here you can see a better (and safer) how to:

(don't mind the bad choice in music...)

So, now you know how to make your car look Shakotan. ;)

And be careful... You don't want to end up like this:

I know I promised to give a follow up on the AE86 cupracer in the Car feature, but writing that piece takes a bit longer than I thought. I'll try to finish it later this week.
