Time to share some emblems, decals and sticker close ups!

This Crown emblem was on the bumper of a Crown hardtop coupe MS75. I love the bonkers design of this whale Crown and certainly small details like this little Crown logo...

Carina Sightings: stickerbombed TA40 at JCS2011

Another jewel at the Japan Classic Sunday was Eric's shakotan stickerbombed TA40:

I've seen a couple of stickerbombed cars, but never one that has them all over the side of the car!

However on the other side it is almost empty:

JCS2011: Super rare Carina hardtop coupe TA17!

This posting had a high Sonny Chiba feeling: this restored Carina hardtop coupe TA17 is exactly the same model as Sonny Chiba used in the famous commercial!

The owner and his buddies came all the way from Finland to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and inbetween they stopped by at the JCS2011!

Just look at how beautiful those tail lights are sunken deeply into the bodywork!

JCS2011: My first impression

My first impression on Yesterdays Japan Classic Sunday was that it was great! Met up with a lot of people and the cars at the meeting were amazing! A small summary of cars present: an immaculate JDM Carina TA17 coupe (more on that later this week), lowered and sticker-bombed Carina TA40, Corolla KE25KE20 with a 2TG swap, many Celica TA22/RA22ls, MR2s, many Celica Supra Mk. IIs and of course this amazingly restored Crown RS40L from 1964:

This Crown RS40L was by far the star of the meeting! Its owners (father and son) restored it back to (almost) original state in the past few years.

Apart from the front grille with all its brightworks the tail lights were are the best second best part of the Crown:

DOTS: Celica's like brother and sister

Some time ago I saw a red Celica ST in the TACN magazine which looked very very familiar... When I saw the license plate I knew I did see it somewhere before... But then with different rims... The day after I knew where I saw it:
Brother and sister: two Toyota Celica ST AT180s
Brother and sister: two Toyota Celica ST AT180s

Right down the street, literally: it is parked one block away from my house! :D

That evening I compared it with the one in the magazine and found out that it is indeed almost the same: the license plate is off by one number:
Brother and sister: two Toyota Celica ST AT180s
Brother and sister: two Toyota Celica ST AT180s

In the Netherlands we have incremental license plates (no vanity plates!) and the plate says something about when the car was registered with that plate. In this case both cars were bought on the same day and probably at the same dealer. Maybe they were even bought by a brother and sister. ;)

At the Japan Classic Sunday I spotted the second car and tried to find the owner. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find him, had a chat with the owner of the neighbouring car and took a picture of the car with the intention to post it up here in the DOTS. ;)
