Carina Sightings: Roman's SA60 Carina

Your rating: None Average: 1 (2 votes)

I've been (slowly) watching Roman fixing up his AA60 Carina coupe. Every few months he posted another update or image on AEU86.org showing what progress he made, either a F series live axle, an engine bay spray or acquisition of a 3SGE. Two weeks ago his Carina came back from the paintshop and all he has to do now is to put that puzzle back together. :D

This is how the project looked half way in 2008:

And this is how it looks now in light greige metallic:

Japanese rustoseums (part seventeen)

I'll try to post as much Carina related stuff this week as possible, so be prepared for some overload of Carina goodness! Let's kick off with some Carina rustoseums!

For starters I found this little 3A powered SG coupe rusting away on someones blog:

A small detail: the Carina sits on a set of Celica A40 rims.

This Carina TA67 wagon looks like an old delivery van. With the writing on its side it looks like what the Fujiwara Tofu Carina TA67 must have looked like:

Carina Sightings: Ukrainian Carina GT

Two weeks ago Andrew sent me a picture of his Carina GT and asked me if I was interested in more pictures and info regarding it. Of course I am! ;)

His Carina GT is a 3A-U powered GT model and was delivered originally to Krivoy Rog city in the Ukraine in 1982! I didn't even know it was possible to buy anything else than Russian cars like the VAZ range. The 3A-U powered GT model is a bit puzzling, however the car has a GT cluster (with an oil pressure meter in the middle) and it was an export model so the designations could be different from the JDM badges.

When the first owner passed away the car remained in storage and was not abused untill his children were old enough to make some small damage at the front of the car:

Carina Sightings: Finnish Carina Coupe AA60

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

Most of the time I when I try finding other Carinas I spend a lot of time on Google Images. This week it proved once again to not be a very good too in finding Carinas: the Finnish site Minunauto (Finnish Cardomain/Minkara) is badly indexed by Google and once I did a search on the site it proved that Finland must be next to Japan the country with the most active Carina drivers/owners! I found at least 25 new Carinas!!

This one was one of the most striking Carinas: a DX coupe AA60, powered by a 4AFE!
Finnish Toyota Carina DX AA60 (4AFE)
Finnish Toyota Carina DX AA60 (4AFE)

Most people would go for the 4AGE road, but somehow the owner of this Carina didn't do so, Perhaps it is because the early generation of the 4AFE is carbureted and easier to swap...

In contrary of the kouki JDM GT models this car features the wheels from a limited edition 280ZX during wintertime. They may look the same in the basic design, but they are different. Also note that in the picture above the rims are a bit more exotic than these. ;)

Carina Sightings: Tawau 4AGTE Carina coupe

I found this 4AGTE converted AA60 Carina coupe from Tawau (Malaysia) on Youtube some time ago:

Unfortunately there is no more footage of that car than this video. However you can view a lot of other cool TE71/KE70/AE86 Corollas and AT141 Coronas on Fookiun's Youtube page.
