Brochures: 1971 Suzuki Fronte LC10 II Stingray Sports kit

Even before Suzuki released the Suzuki Fronte Coupe they already made the existing (facelifted) Suzuki Fronte LC10 II (as known as the Stingray) look more sporty with this sports kit:

I must say this Sukuki Fronte LC10 SSS really looks bad ass!

As the SSS already had a very potent 36hp engine (not bad for a 360cc air cooled engine!) so the sports kit only included exterior and interior upgrades: Continue reading

Webmining: Paul Newman Skyline on the Fort Gates Ferry in Floria

One of my favorite tools to find new things is Google Images. I was searching for photos of a Paul Newman Skyline but bumped into a set of photos of Paul Newman with a red Nissan Skyline GT-ES Turbo at the Floria Memory site taken in May 1982 around the Fort Gates Ferry in Floria.

This obviously triggered my curiosity and I started digging into the subject. ;)

I suspected at first this was just footage for one of the famous New-man Skyline ads from 1982, but for some reason I could not remember seeing this ferry in any of them:

Friday Video: Rotary vs Skyline by Best Motoring

Back in the early 70s Mazda and Nissan fought for the grand championships with their rotaries (RX-2 and RX-3) and their Skyline GT-Rs (KPGC10 and PGC10) and Best Motoring is reliving those fierce battles with a bit more modern machines in Hot Version 52 (Rotary vs Skyline):

Unfortunately by the time Group 5 races emerged in Japan this meant the cars used never were the actual production cars anymore. So what Best Motoring did was to line up cars that never battled with each other and they range from early 80s till early noughties.

My personal favorite is the battle between the Mazda RX7 SA22C (tuned by REOS) and the Nissan Skyline RS Turbo DR30 (tuned by Escort) and you can watch this battle in the video below: Continue reading

Family Album Treasures: Toyota Sprinter Trueno TE47 and Isuzu 117

Family Album Treasures generally come with one or multiple persons standing in front of one single car. This Family Album Treasure comes with two: a Toyota Sprinter Trueno TE47 and a Isuzu 117!
Family Album Treasures: Isuzu 117 and Trueno TE47
In contrary to the Toyota in-house designed Trueno TE47 the Isuzu 117 was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The Trueno TE47 is one of my all time favorite cars, however with pain in my heart I have to admit the 117 is looking a lot sleeker than the Trueno. Still the Trueno TE47 is higher on my want-list than the 117. ;)
The Trueno in the photo also features the well-known Japanese beginner driver mark, so I guess all three are late teens, early twenties. By now this photo should already be in their family album for well over thirty years!
