Remembering Japanese cars from the past

DOTS: 1980 Mazda 626 Hardtop Coupe

Imagine when you go visit a friends party and you spot this Mazda 626 hardtop coupe parked on the parkinglot near the house:

Of course I immediately took a picture (with my phonecam, hence the crappy quality).

And another one up close:

A really nice preserved example! 🙂

So we went inside and enjoyed the party. Only after two hours my wife found out the Mazda was actually owned by one of the people at the party!
The owner inherited the 626 hardtop coupe from his mother, drives it ever since and even became a member of the Dutch 626 club this year. He doesn’t need the car as a daily driver and the car is parked safely in a parking under the building he lives in. He even took it the car all the way to Hammerfest in Norway! Nice to meet someone liking the old Japanese cars as well!

Hilarious: The A-Team dubbed in Japanese

I had a great laugh when I watched this A-Team opening in Japanese!

That sounded so great that I started looking for more footage on youtube…

Most of it is blocked, but I was able to catch this nice few minutes of good old Japanese dubbing:

TASUKETE!

Imagine what the Japanese might think of our good old Manga Video dubbing from the early nineties. Or worse: the Tokyopop Initial D dubs! 😉

Carina Sightings: Gymkhana Carina TA63

I’ve seen a lot of (ab)uses for the Carina so far, but I’ve never saw one attending in a real Gymkhana before. That was till I spotted this Gymkhana Carina TA63 on Minkara:

As you can see: the owner has humor. 😀

You can see some more action in one of his videos:

He’s quite good at it! And the video even featured a few “bloopers” in the end! 🙂

Also a notable thing are his smoked tail lights (zenki). Really suits the car and maybe I’ll try to create my own when I can get my hands on a second set…
