Carina Sightings: Carina crowd at NYM 2010

A few weeks back I already featured some pictures by Michinoku Grand at the HistoriX Japan meeting and during some browsing of his Photozou archives I came across a Carina crowd at the New Year Meeting 2010 in Odaiba:

Four Carina’s may not be that impressive, but given the age of the Carina A60 and the amount of cars at the meeting it is actually quite a lot! ;)

Michinoku Grand did like the black Carina van a lot:

And so do I!

Also note the rims on Carina sedan behind it: they look exactly like the Atiwe telephone rims on the European AE86 Haslback trim. They could very well be some licensed JDM manufactured rims of course. ;)

And another shot of that great looking Carina van! Why didn’t my dad paint his Carina van black in 1985? It sure does look better than gold! :P

DOTS: Miata hunting! (part 9)

How about a red Miata Hunting post for a change? Well, I did find these two cars parked next to each other a few blocks away from my house:
Red 1991 Mazda MX5 NA vs Red 1968 Fiat 124 Spider
Red 1991 Mazda MX5 NA vs Red 1968 Fiat 124 Spider

Which one would you choose? The 1968 Fiat 124 Spider or the 1991 Mazda MX5? Personally I would definitely go for the MX5 because of its reliability and (sorry to say!) the Fiat for its looks! I think the owner of these two cars had the same problem. ;)

Another red MX5:

Not much to say about this one… Was parked at house while I was on my way to work and I took a quick picture with my phonecam.

And unfortunately I ran out of red ones, so here is an orange NB to make it up:

Certainly good for you if you are in a Dutch soccer mood. :P

Video: 1984 Suzuka 1000km

Rocketpencil posted some new racing videos on Youtube including this 1984 Suzuka 1000km endurance race! These endurance races were always the main event for the so called Granchan races (Grand Championship) where a lot of mixed groups were racing at the same event. The Super Silhouette (Group 5) races were mostly a (short) prequel to the main event.

In this video you can see some of the Super Silhouette cars at 0:46, the Nissan Silvia Turbo and a Mazda RX7.

During the main event you can also see a few cars from a different group riding along: some Nissan Sunny B210s, Toyota Corolla Levin AE86s, Honda Civics, Mazda RX7s, a Toyota Starlet KP61, a Honda Ballade CRX and a Honda Prelude SN!

Hilarious: Happy Meal drift (better than Bunta!)

Now this is a real happy meal: this guy eats his Mc Donalds meal while drifting the Ebisu North course! Not only does he eat it on the straights, but he also does it Bunta style and picks up and returns his milkshake into the cupholder! Now that is EPIC!

Now if only he could pick up his order on the drive through this way! :D

Also check out his extensive (and humorous) report on this trick on Youtube.
