Need car guidance? Nissan Laurel C32 Medialist

In a previous Car Guidance you were guided for the Nissan Skyline R31, so how about its sister car the Nissan Laurel Medialist?

This Laurel C32 Medialist basically is the same as the Skyline R31: it has got the same floorpan, the same hardtop (designer was the same guy), the same weird folding rear power windows, got the same RB20 engine (this C32 doesn’t have the twin cam head though) but is a bit more luxurious on the inside: it has a steering wheel with more buttons than on a modern car, the double DIN car stereo looks like it consumes more amps than a boombox, the digital dashboard mimics the Knight 2000. Compare that luxury to my two year older (plain) Carina!

Now if only I could get one here in Holland… 🙁
(btw: I do know one in Holland but it is not for sale…)

Carina Sightings: white Carina AA63 drifting on a wet Suzuka

My heart jumped last wednesday when Alexi Smith from Nori Yaro posted this white toyota Carina GT-R AA63 drifting on a wet Suzuka:

Did he know wednesdays is always my Carina Sighting day? Did he do that on purpose? Can’t he post up a wallpaper version of that picture? 😛

Anyway, head over to Nori Yaro for more pictures of this white beauty:

Japanese cherry blossoms in Holland

Last year I already noticed the trees next to the red Mazda Miata were Japanese cherry trees and I was hoping I could take a nice picture of the Miata with the cherry blossoms this spring. Unfortunately I only could take that picture:

As you can see: the Miata disappeared after the snow melted and a Vølvø S40 replaced it shortly afterwards. I was hoping it would return, but since the blossoms are almost dead already I really had to take this picture instead.

Dunno what happened to the red Miata. Maybe the owner got fed up with a convertible during winter time, had family expansion or even moved away. We’ll probably never know…

(btw: picture was taken with my new phonecam. Color quality is better than the crap cam, but the focus is terrible. I had to sharpen the picture twice to have as it is right now. So not a good replacement for the crapcam I guess!)

DOTS: Miata hunting! (part 7)

Time to hunt some more Miatas! Or actually some MX5s! And to be more specific: only NAs (first model)!

Down on the Street: red Mazda MX5

I spotted this red MX5 next to the trafficlight when I was cycling to work. Not much to tell about except that it was driven by a blonde elderly woman.

The blue MX5 is a bit more interesting:

Since the owners have both motorcycles and presumably another daily driver this MX5 only sits on their driveway. Even though it looks hardly used it appeared to be in excellent condition. It also got an aftermarket exhaust, rims but the rest of it looked stock. Nice tourer though! 🙂

Now the silver one:

It is a lowered MX5 with some Rota Flights rims (Racing Hart CPF Tune R knock offs). Since I was driving I stopped the car next to the sidewalk and took the picture without looking through the finder, too bad I left the camera on manual focus and didn’t notice it at all.

Did come back a few days later but couldn’t find the car anymore… 🙁

Expensive hobbies: Nissan Skyline GT-R owners trackday

Some hobbies can be very expensive: for instance owning a Nissan Skyline C10 GT-R can already be very expensive, but driving one hard on a owners trackday may become even more expensive!

I wonder what the total of this line of cars (without the Lambo) would be worth. I counted at least 2 genuine KPGC10s, 1 genuine KPGC110 and at least 6 GC10s. That’s probably worth at least half a million euros. 😮

But there were many more cars than that line up:

The trackday was not only limited to GT-R owners alone: as you can see the tekamen DR30s were welcome as well. 🙂

And if you look closely you can also spot a white AA63 Carina GT-R in the top right corner (next to the Silvia S13)

This shot is my favorite:

Which of these three beauties would you choose?
